About the AuthorDr. Sreeja Sukesan is a distinguished Ayurvedic ophthalmologist, educator, and researcher, currently serving as Vice Principal, Professor, and Head of the Department of Śālākya Tantra at Government Ayurveda College, Tripunithura. With over three decades of dedicated service in Ayurvedic eye care, she has combined clinical expertise with a passion for academic excellence, shaping the future of countless practitioners.
A graduate of Government Ayurveda College, Tripunithura (BAMS, 1990), Dr. Sreeja completed her MD in Śālākya Tantra from Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram (1994) and awarded Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University in 2010. Her additional qualifications in Clinical Research Methodology, Ayurveda Research Methodology, and Biostatistics reflect her commitment to evidence-based practice.
She has shared her work at major national and international forums, published widely, and pioneered innovative treatments for complex eye and ENT disorders. She led the ‘Jyothirgamaya’ project, screening over 2,500 patients for diabetic retinopathy, and conducted key studies on refractive errors in children. Her contributions have earned her the Sukrutham Award (2011), Sidharkannappa Nimi Award (2013), and Dhanwantari Award (2024). With deep classical knowledge and modern ophthalmological training, she continues to inspire as a resource person and Ph.D. guide.
